On Saturday 14th June, the Whitehorse United community came together for a heartfelt and elegant Ladies Afternoon Tea, raising vital funds for the Thursday Girls Advanced Breast Cancer Therapy & Support Group. The event was held in loving memory of cherished club mum, Janine Sexton, whose legacy of kindness, warmth and unwavering support continues to inspire all who knew her.

The clubhouse was transformed for the afternoon, with beautifully decorated tables and a spectacular grazing spread that delighted guests. The atmosphere was filled with warmth, laughter, and connection as women from the club, the wider community, and even family members from afar gathered to show their support.

A complimentary glass of prosecco or orange juice welcomed guests on arrival, setting the tone for a relaxed and celebratory occasion. The buzz of conversation was accompanied by cups of tea and coffee, while the clink of mimosa glasses signalled a toast to friendship and purpose.

Special thanks must go to Kim, who once again wowed with her exquisite table styling, stunning grazing table and her  beautiful 37 tea cup and saucer sets from her personal collection! Behind the scenes, a hardworking team of volunteers kept everything flowing smoothly – pouring drinks, clearing tables, and ensuring everyone was well looked after.

The event also featured a raffle with fantastic prizes, generously donated by local businesses and club supporters, adding a touch of excitement while boosting fundraising efforts.

We’re proud to share that through ticket sales and raffle contributions, an incredible $1,620 was raised. These funds will go directly to support the Thursday Girls, helping women living with advanced breast cancer access therapies, care, and connection.

Most importantly, the afternoon was a beautiful tribute to Janine – a woman remembered for her generous spirit, ever-present smile, and deep commitment to her family and club.
